Why are hemp seeds useful?

You have certainly heard stories of hemp seed, but you do not know if hemp seeds are anything that would suit your menu – especially if you’re afraid of drugs. In fact, there is no need to worry about this. Although the oilseed can, in its appearance, be similar to marijuana, it is instead a second type of cannabis herb and contains very little narcotic agent THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol), according to which marijuana is commonly known. At the same time, healthy fats, proteins and essential nutrients that are hidden in the hemp seed, and the various beneficial properties of the seeds, are why it makes sense to add healthy cannabis to your menu.

Good for your heart and mind

If you are looking for a herbal source of omega-3 fatty acids, hemp seeds are the perfect choice. Omega-3 fatty acids are important fats that help fight inflammation and adding them to your menu helps reduce the risk of heart disease. They can also help to lower cholesterol and blood pressure. The concentration of Omega-3 fatty acids is higher in the brain and can play an important role in improving memory and thinking ability. So why not start your day with a mild heart and mind-blowing cocktail, adding hemp seeds to your morning pad or yogurt.

A powerful source of protein

Hemp seeds contain all important amino acids, which makes cannabis seeds an ideal source of protein, just like chicken, fish or beef. Adding three tablespoons of hemp seed oil to lettuce or raspberries gives 10 grams of high quality protein.

Minerals

Cannabis seeds are also a rich source of various essential minerals, including magnesium, phosphorus, iron and zinc. Only three tablespoons cover 50% of the daily magnesium and phosphorus requirement, 25% of the daily zinc need and 15% iron requirement. Getting daily magnesium and phosphorus is necessary for healthy bones. Iron is important for transportation of oxygen in the body and zinc supports the immune system.

Digestion is in order

Women need 25 grams of fiber a day and men 38 grams. Wholegrain hemp seed consists of 10-15% of fiber, or about 1 gram per 3 tablespoons. Fiber in hemp seeds improves digestion and helps prevent constipation. It also increases the sense of feeling full of breath, and therefore the risk of having a second portion for dinner falls.
